No Season 4 for the fantasy drama.
March 29, 2021
Word is out this evening that American Gods has been cancelled by Starz after three seasons. The sad news comes a week after the fantasy drama aired its third-season finale.
Adapted from the 2001 Neil Gaiman novel, the series follows ex-con and widower Shadow Moon, who has his life turned upside down not long after being released from prison. He meets a charismatic con man named Mr. Wednesday, who is actually an incarnation of the God Odin and looking to confront the new Gods, who have been growing stronger. Together, Mr. Wednesday and Shadow Moon begin a journey across America in an attempt to build an army of Old Gods that will battle for power against the New Gods.
While today's cancellation cuts the ongoing story short, there is talk that a TV movie or event series could be a possibility down the road to give American Gods a proper ending. Star Ricky Whittle took to Twitter shortly after the news broke to thank his fellow cast members, the crew, and the fans. He also noted that he, Gaiman, and Fremantle are committed to completing the story.

Absolutely stunning visuals at times.. but horribly drab, slow crawling, somewhat confusing storylines. Season 1 was was good.. then season 2 just started down the slippery slope and I gave up halfway through... tried a couple from season 3.. it seemed even worse than season 2. It won't be missed

The 1st season was great, the second struggled after major characters left after season one, and storylines vanished including the cliffhanger from one. Then by season 3 so many actors were fired that it was like a shadow of the series and book. Even the very good acting of mcshane and crew could not save it. It needed a ending though.

I kept Starz even after they cancelled Ash vs Evil Dead. Now i literally have no reason to keep it. I do hope they eventually conclude it though.

They were almost done with the story just the ending and they could easily do it in 3-4 episodes, so hopefully they will.

Thank god. What took them so long?

Damn. Season 3 was surprisingly good. I was just saying it sucked that it ended on a cliffhanger of sorts, because of how volatile things were behind the scenes you never knew if it'd get a renewal or not. :-/

not totally surprising... this show had like 4 different showrunners in 3 seasons. Not a great sign...
