The midseason comedy will return for Season 2.

ABC announced today that Home Economics has been renewed for a second season. The good news comes six episodes into the comedy's freshman run, which premiered in April as a midseason entry.
Airing Wednesday nights after 'The Goldbergs', the show is off to a solid start. Its first episode gave the network the best lead-in retention among adults 18-49 of any new comedy in the 2020-2021 season.
Home Economics follows three adult siblings living very different lives. One is living comfortably as one of the 1%, one is part of the middle class, and the other is struggling to get by. Thus their complicated relationship can be heartwarming, super uncomfortable, and often frustrating.
Look for the Season 2 premiere in early-to-mid 2022.

I realize it's a waste of time to complain because something was renewed and something else was cancelled but did the people in charge even watch this show. It is just awful.

@Tucker - loved the post but especially the housekeeper comment.
Given the recent releases of comedies, I actually consider this one of the better ones though that might say more about the recent releases then this show. I have been watching it though.

It's nothing special.. but it's also not the worst thing ABC airs.. so.. meh.. The oh-so-prevalent-woke-character-casting is too obvious.
Let's write about a family.. okay.. oh wait.
we need to be woke, someone has to be gay...
oh, we'll make the sister a lesbian..
wait it's an all white cast, we need ethic diversity..
well, lets make the lesbian sister's wife black.... done..
....wokeness covered.
But leave the housekeeper as Latina.

I agree with Goeze...This show is not good at all! Don't know how it got renewed and they cancel shows that were actually funny. ABC is a mess.

The first episode was cringe worthy. I'm surprised it got renewed, I thought for sure it would be canceled.
