No Season 2 for the sci-fi drama.
May 27, 2021
It is being reported that NBC has cancelled Debris after just one season. The sad news comes three days after the sci-fi drama wrapped its 13-episode freshman run. The move isn't a complete surprise though, as the show struggled to find a sizeable audience despite generally positive feedback from critics.
From 'Fringe' executive producer J.H. Wyman, the hour-long series follows a world where mysterious wreckage has fallen to Earth from outer space. An international agency, as well as other mysterious parties, try to figure out where it came from and what is behind it, as each fragment has an unpredictable effect on those who find it, changing their lives in unexpected and dangerous ways.

The most irritating thing about this show was the high decibel crescendos preceding each station break. I prefer shows that have little or no music leading up to a commercial. It feels cheap and manipulative when they decide to force the storyline like that.

Not surprised at all to see this go. I just got monotonous. Instead of "Creature of the week" it was "Debris/wreckage part" of the week. After watching the first episode I doubted it would get picked up for a second season. After the 2nd episode I was sure about that. This show was a drag.

Didn't know about the cancellation until I looked for the next episode. Sad about losing it.

Seen a few posts saying this should have been on SyFy. Well SyFy is under NBC's umbrella and SyFy cancels its fair share of good shows as well. After Dark Matter and The Expanse I no longer watch SyFy channel.

NBC has to stop with shows that should be on Syfy. It doesn't work the the demo on NBC. Midnight Texas was another good show that just didn't feel right on NBC but would have been perfect on Syfy.

Nice pairing of actors with their roles in the show. Jonathon Tucker was a great character on Justified, and a good male lead. Riann Steele is not someone I have seen before but was strong as a lead/foil for Jonathon. They had good chemistry together on the screen and could have been outstanding if allowed continuing development. Hopefully this show will be shopped around and find a new partner in the online world. Also had a great actor named Scroobius Pip, who was compellingly evil.

Networks need to realize that if they put Si-Fi shows on they have to accept a smaller audience. Very rarely does one bust into the top 20.I was disappointed in this show but I think it could be salvaged.

No worry, “Debris” will get a much better completely different remake (and possibly even finish) someday in the distant future. I am certain because Debris is such a cool name. It rolls off your tongue.
