The British-American fantasy comedy will return for Season 2.
June 29, 2021
Amazon announced today that Good Omens has been picked up for a second season. The news comes over a year after the fantasy comedy released its freshman run, which was originally intended to be a six-episode limited series.
Based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 1990 novel of the same name, the series follows a fussy Angel who forms an unlikely alliance with a loose-living Demon. They have both become attached to their life on Earth, and therefore must team up to try and stop the impending Armageddon. To do that, they have to find the missing Antichrist - an 11-year-old boy who has no clue he is meant to bring the end of days upon humanity.
Stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant, who play Angel Aziraphale and Demon Crowley, will reportedly be returning Season 2, which will focus on new stories that go beyond the source material. Filming is slated to begin later this year in Scotland.
Look for Season 2 of Good Omens in 2023.

In the book Good Omens, most of the comedy was written by Sir Terry Pratchett. The 1st season reflected that special sense of fun and humour of Sir Terry and concluded the story.
A second season will be lacking Sir Terry Pratchetts input and rely heavily on Neil Boring Gaiman's solo filler efforts, as seen in his tiresome series "American Gods" I suspect that this second season (Devoid of source material) will meander from one absurdity to the next simply to fill Neil Gaimans coffers and inflate his ego.
This will be an abomination!

WHAT SECOND SEASON?
The story concluded at the end of SEASON 1, this is where the book ended, how the hell can there be a second season?
I am guessing that with Sir Terry Pratchett (May he rest in peace) out of the way that vile and disgusting leech Neil Gaiman is simply cashing in and making a complete nonsense of this collaboration...
Then again they cancelled his main money maker "American Gods" so I am guessing Gaiman is strapped and in need of more cash CHA CHING!

Surprisingly, wha wha wha approves of the re-up of this one and done show. It was masterfully captured on film and saved me poreing thru sandman and discworld to find relevance or fan "insider" crap and tidbits.
Season one was most excellent.

Something tells me Michael Sheen was a hold out on this until he lost his day job when they cancelled Prodigal Son. Bet he made a fast phone call too Amazon saying he would do a second season before they cancelled it.

It's ok to just have limited series. Just because something did well doesn't mean you have to try to milk it. I hope it's as good but I have my doubts.
