Amazon announced today that Good Omens has been picked up for a third and final season that will conclude the story of the Good Omens Universe and its beloved characters. The news comes five months after the comedic fantasy drama released its sophomore run.

Its first season launched globally as a limited series on Prime Video in 2019. After becoming a hit worldwide, a second season was ordered, exploring storylines that went beyond the original source material.

"I'm so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006," said series creator Neil Gaiman. "Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren't talking."

Based on Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 1990 novel of the same name, the series follows a fussy Angel who forms an unlikely alliance with a loose-living Demon. They have both become attached to their life on Earth, and therefore must team up to try and stop the impending Armageddon. To do that, they have to find the missing Antichrist - an 11-year-old boy who has no clue he is meant to bring the end of days upon humanity.
