The summer drama will return for Season 2.
November 4, 2021
Fox announced today that Fantasy Island has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes less than two months after the drama wrapped its 8-episode freshman run, which performed well as the #1 new scripted series among adults 18-49 despite a mixed critical reception.
An updated version of the 1977 original, the series is set at a luxury resort where any fantasy that its guests request is fulfilled - but they rarely turn out as expected. People from all walks of life arrive with desires and dreams and leave transformed and enlightened through the magical realism provided by Fantasy Island.
Look for Season 2 of Fantasy Island in 2022. In the meantime, though, the network will be airing a 2-hour special holiday episode on Tuesday, December 21.

Fantasy Island the original was a show portraying good and evil. What a disappointment for the network to renew it in this format; just garbage.

I'm not surprised this was renewed, I couldn't make it though the first episode and I tried on the 2nd and couldn't do that either. Seems like these kind of shows get renewed over and over while other decent ones are not.
It's not like the original was done all that well either, but at least RM had charisma that make up for a lot of it's faults.

The worst shows always get that earliest pickups.
LOL what?

I forgot this show even existed. Seriously? Good shows get cancelled but this gets renewed? Must be because it's cheap to produce, as well.
Huh?

Wow that was a surprise, they renewed probably the most vapid dull series this quarter but then looking at it, it was a super cheap production, probably cheaper than half of their reality series catalogue so why wouldn't they renew their new space filler?

This show was uneven, though there were a couple good episodes. They decided to make the people running the island a bigger part of the story to mixed results. It's OK for summer when your mind is in neutral but it couldn't make it as a regular series.
I did like the tribute to Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Villechaize at the end of the last episode.

This was a 1 episode watch and remove from recording. I agree with Gwynn, there are much better shows that have got the axe here lately.
