Paramount+ announced today that The Game has been renewed for a second season. The news comes a month after the revived dramedy ended its freshman run on the streaming service.

The series originated on The CW back in 2006 as a spin-off of the TV series 'Girlfriends' in the format of a half-hour comedy. It was eventually canceled after three seasons but was subsequently picked up by BET as an hour-long dramedy, and continued to air for another six seasons until 2015.

The Game revival follows the players and families of a Las Vegas professional football team as they tackle racism, sexism, classism and other issues while fighting for fame, respect, money and love – all while trying to maintain their souls as they play the game.
