FX announced today that Fargo will be returning for a fifth season. The good news comes more than a year after the critically-acclaimed anthology drama aired Season 4. The pickup doesn't come as a huge surprise, though, as the cable network has been hinting about a return of the show for a while now.
No release date or casting information is known about Season 5, but it will be set in 2019. No real plot information has been revealed, other than a teaser that it will involve a kidnapping that is not really a kidnapping.

This season was excellent. I've seen comments about Season 4 not being good. It was decent I thought, but it admittedly wasn't as good as Season 5. Jon Hamm made an great villain I have to say.

Well season 5 is full steam ahead -- kicking it with shocking twists just in the first 2 episodes! Love the casting, too. Wish I could just binge watch all the episodes.

I have loved this show, even the last season which took a while to take off. It always maintained the oddness of the original movie.
Then again, the whole series was brilliantly encapsulated in the recent "The Simpsons" parody. Just watch that if you don't want to binge the whole Fargo series.

Don’t know that I’d bother with it. It’s gotten worse each season as they gotten further away from its starting point

Fargo S1 is one of the great seasons of TV ever, IMO. S2 was good, S3 was ok, couldn't get through the first half of S4.
