It is being reported that American Rust has been saved from cancellation by Amazon. The web giant has picked up the drama for a second season that will air on its Freevee streaming service, formerly known as IMDb TV.
The series originated on Showtime, airing a 9-episode run last fall that ultimately garnered a mixed critical reception. The cable network cancelled the show earlier this year, likely due to low ratings.
Based on Philipp Meyer's hit debut novel, American Rust stars Jeff Daniels as a complicated and compromised police chief in a Pennsylvania Rust Belt town full of good people who can make bad choices. When the son of the woman he loves is accused of murder, he must choose how far he is willing to go to protect him.
Look for Season 2 of American Rust on Amazon Freevee in 2023.

Happy to see that someone had the good sense to revive this show. It has some plot holes but overall the show had solid acting, Showtime is too fast with the hook at times.

This is great news. I loved the first season - great acting and good plot.
Now that Bosch is now on Freevee I fell in love with the series. If you have not tried it, you are missing on a great police procedural show.
