It is being reported that Peacock has renewed Dr. Death for a second season. The news comes a year after the drama released its 8-episode freshman run to an overall positive critical reception.
The show premiered last summer and was originally billed as a limited series focusing on the rise and fall of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a charismatic rising star in the Dallas medical community whose growing neurosurgery practice crumbled when many of his patients left his operating room permanently maimed or dead.
Today's pickup sees Dr. Death become an anthology series, focusing on a new doctor each season. Season 2 will focus on the subject of the 'Miracle Man' season of the podcast on which it is based; That being Paolo Macchiarini, a charming thoracic surgeon known for his innovative operations. When an investigative journalist approaches him for a story, the line between personal and professional blurs, altering her life forever. As she learns how far Dr. Macchiarini will go to protect his secrets, a group of doctors halfway around the world make shocking discoveries that call everything about the 'Miracle Man' into question.
