The fantasy drama earns an early pickup.

It was announced today at Comic-Con that Amazon's Prime Video has renewed The Wheel of Time for a third season. The pickup is an early one, as the fantasy drama has yet to return for Season 2.
The hour-long series premiered last November with an eight-episode run that garnered a generally positive response from critics. The show already had a two-season commitment under its belt before it aired its first episode.
Based on Robert Jordan's novel series, The Wheel of Time follows Moiraine, a member of the Aes Sedai, an order of women who can channel the power of magic. Looking to locate the latest reincarnation of the Dragon, the light's champion, she guides a group of young people on a journey around the world, believing one of them could be the powerful individual prophesied to save the world - or destroy it.
Season 3 of the show will be based on 'The Shadow Rising', the fourth book in the 14-volume series.

That being said, Moirane is just how I imagined her. And the depiction of the world - great!
But Perrin killing his girlfriend? Come on! None of the guys knew anything about having girlfriends or having a relationship. It is a part of their growth.
All in all, like Aethn said, it is a good thing they will have more of a chance to convince the viewers now. Those not familiar with the books: this is an amazingly rich world, full of history, legends, peoples... You won't have any episodes meant as place fillers. There is just too much to tell.
Seems a bit early to already approve season 3, but hey, it's Amazons money.
The show has to hook the audience and its causes them to do things out of order from the books, which, if you read the books 20 years ago, the show gets confusing at times then you finally realize "Oh, OK yeah they jumped ahead here then back here to continue the story chronologically". LOL.
Frankly its a really difficult story to bring to the screen and keep it feeling like Robert Jordan ... who will take 7 pages to describe the door frame of the Inn keepers food pantry, hehe.
