CBS announced today that Fire Country's freshman season is getting a little longer. The network has ordered a batch of additional episodes to extend the drama's run, though the exact number is not known.
The Friday series premiered earlier this month and is off to a solid start. Its first two episodes have averaged over 8 million viewers, making it the most-watched new show of the 2022-2023 season.
In Fire Country, a young convict named Bode Donovan is looking for redemption and a shortened prison sentence, so he joins a firefighting program that brings him back to his small hometown in Northern California where he and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish huge blazes across the region.

Well, it's better than everything else on broadcast TV, but that's faint praise these days. It's hard to see where this series will go. They've thrown so many character and story lines into the mix that there isn't a lot of direction. And how many times can you spice it up by showing forest fires?
