The comedy is moving from its original home on Peacock.

It looks like Girls5eva has found a new home. In a surprising move, Netflix has picked up the comedy for a third season. Its first two seasons streamed on Peacock, so it's likely that the NBCUniversal-owned service quietly cancelled the show sometime after its sophomore run earlier this year, with Netflix brokering a deal in recent months to take over the rights.
"Our deepest thanks to Peacock for bringing Girls5eva to life and supporting us creatively at every turn since the first pitch. And we are endlessly grateful to our partners at NBCU for their boundless commitment. Today, we are thrilled to announce that our reunited girl group will be re-reunited at Netflix. We are so thankful to everyone at the streamer who fell in love with our music-filled comedy. We cannot wait to introduce Dawn, Wickie, Summer, and Gloria to the global Netflix audience," said executive producers Meredith Scardino, Tina Fey, Jeff Richmond & Robert Carlock in a statement.
The half-hour series follows the members of an all-girl pop group that had their 15 minutes of fame as a one-hit-wonder in the 1990s. When their song is sampled by a popular young rapper, its members reunite to give their dream of pop stardom one more chance. They may be grown women balancing family life and their careers, but maybe they can also be Girls5eva again.
Look for Season 3 of Girls5eva on Netflix in 2023.
