No Season 2 for the mystery drama.
January 2, 2023
Word is out that Netflix has cancelled 1899 after just one season. Cast member Lucas Lynggaard Tonnesen, as well as the show's creators, took to social media to express their sadness over the move, which makes 1899 the first cancelled series of 2023.
The show follows a group of European passengers on an immigrant ship, traveling from London to the new continent, who get caught in a mysterious riddle when they come across a second vessel adrift on the open sea. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, as the creators had envisioned a three-season run for the show, which unfortunately has been cut short.

Whelp, glad I hadn't gotten around to watching this one yet. The trailer looked intriguing but no way I'm diving in now.

I haven't seen this (because i don't get netflix) but I'm still pissed off this got cancelled just as it got started. Damn netflix. Does filming at sea cost too much? Is the story not as good as it sounds? A story like this naturally has a cliffhanger after season 1. What a ripofff!!! Maybe.

This absolutely sucks! Netflix, what the hell is going on (Warrior Nun, Fate: The Winx Sage, etc)??? The only negative item I heard about this show is that some in the USA did not like having to read subtitles (much of the show was in English, though). This series was excellent and left the fans on a major cliffhanger!!!
