No Season 2 for the mystery drama.
January 2, 2023
Word is out that Netflix has cancelled 1899 after just one season. Cast member Lucas Lynggaard Tonnesen, as well as the show's creators, took to social media to express their sadness over the move, which makes 1899 the first cancelled series of 2023.
The show follows a group of European passengers on an immigrant ship, traveling from London to the new continent, who get caught in a mysterious riddle when they come across a second vessel adrift on the open sea. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, as the creators had envisioned a three-season run for the show, which unfortunately has been cut short.

Never made it through the first episode. It was part english and mostly some other language. I thunk german but ity could have been swedish. Anyway wtf they expect people to be fluent in like a million different languages.
This show was just boring and not able to be watched really. Kind of like war of the worlds. Everytime they went to France or japan they spoke french or japanese Excuse me I speak english and am sort of good at spanish but even that language has like 1000 different variants.
Woke does kill shows but boring and not even being able to understand what people are saying kills them faster

It was not a movie. Not a woke thing. It was not caca like the witcher blood origin. Which just made up stuff not related to the books.

Was waiting to watch until renewed for at least 3 seasons due to the way Netflix cancels. Been watching more Prime lately and most likely will cancel Netflix due to stupid decisions like this.

The season is complete enough as it is.
Like "Life on Mars", you don't find out the real secret until the end of the final episode.

Netflix seems to make decisions based solely on their own algorithm. If the math says make another season, they make another season. If it says cancel, they cancel.
There appears to be no gray area. It's a yes or a no, and no human emotion or thought come into play.

Apparently three seasons - and going on the comments here to date, the early cancellation is a disgrace.

This show was meant for multiple seasons?
The way the first season ended, the second season would need to be dramatically different.

Yet another stupid move by Netflix. They seem to be full of them lately. Maybe it’s time for me to cancel them.

Wow... bad move Netflix. Maybe this show didn't make huge waves but what about all the people who invested many hours into watching this? They're Netflix customers too and they deserve to not get an unfinished story.
