The long-running reality series will hear its last case this season.
February 19, 2023
Word is out that Warner Bros. has cancelled The People's Court. The syndicated series' current incarnation will end later this year after 26 seasons. Including the original version that ran from 1981-1993, the show aired a total of 38 seasons.
In the reality series, judge Marilyn Milian hears small claims cases where the litigants agree to drop their lawsuits and instead have the case heard on the show. The judge's decision is binding arbitration which the litigants agree to abide by.
The People's Court has won four Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program over the course of its run - the most in the genre. It also holds the title of the longest-running traditional court series in TV history.

The core audience for shows like this have all died. Even reruns of Matlock will be phased out one day, especially since there's now a reboot of that show coming.

It seems good shows get cancelled today and others are picked up that nobody watches or low in ratings. I hope some other network, syndication station or streaming network has the brains to pick up THE PEOPLE,S COURT. We do not need anymore talk shows that preach hate. For a court show, it was entertaining.

Warner Bros. has lost it's mind! I'm selling all my shares quickly as I can since their decision making ability has been depleted! I Love The People's Court....hoping another smart network picks it up!

This is a show that should have ended years ago, think about it how many seasons are in the tank no one will remember if this persons dog bit this person in episode 12. Milian was making $8 million a year.
Thank you for finally realizing it was way past it’s prime.

What's going on with WB cancelling the reality court programs? First Judge Mathis, now People's Court? Many viewers learn about actual court proceedings & laws for & from civil cases these programs. Do the bigshots at WB want to keep viewers in the dark about how courts & leagal procedures work? Seems awfully strange that they are hyping brainless shows like MILF Manor & getting rid of ones where people actually think intelligently!
