The long-running reality series will hear its last case this season.
February 19, 2023
Word is out that Warner Bros. has cancelled The People's Court. The syndicated series' current incarnation will end later this year after 26 seasons. Including the original version that ran from 1981-1993, the show aired a total of 38 seasons.
In the reality series, judge Marilyn Milian hears small claims cases where the litigants agree to drop their lawsuits and instead have the case heard on the show. The judge's decision is binding arbitration which the litigants agree to abide by.
The People's Court has won four Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program over the course of its run - the most in the genre. It also holds the title of the longest-running traditional court series in TV history.

This got just silly when Judge Marilyn wanted to be a bigger celebrity than she is.. and bring in her husband. Stupid producers seemingly don't realize the show is about the plaintiff/defendant NOT so much the judge as evidences by the past judges... No one actually cares what Marilyn and her husband think about things. They tune in to see the stupid cases. Judge Judy gets away with it because she's such a nasty old lady, a curmudgeon, and downright abusive towards people at times.
