The acclaimed dark comedy begins its final run in April.
March 7, 2023
HBO announced today that Barry will be coming to an end after its upcoming fourth season. The news comes just over a month before the dark comedy returns for its now-final 8-episode run.
"After three masterful seasons of Barry, we are eager for viewers to see the powerful, complex and hilarious conclusion to Barry Berkman's story. It has been a pleasure working with this immensely talented team including Bill Hader, Alec Berg, Aida Rodgers and the entire exceptional cast and crew," said Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President, HBO and HBO Max Comedy.
Combining a mix of dark comedy and drama, Barry stars Bill Hader - who also co-created the series - as a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest who takes a job in Los Angeles to execute a hit on an aspiring actor. But after following his mark into acting classes, he winds up finding an accepting community within a group of LA theater scene hopefuls. This change in scenery inspires him to start a new life as an actor, but it won't be easy to just walk away from his criminal past.
Season 4 of Barry premieres on April 16.

Go out before it becomes a parody of itself. Best way to do it.

I feel like some of the posters here are parody accounts, and it’s a comedy style I just don’t understand.
Either that or it’s like when you learn a curse word as a kid and you just throw it around non-stop, and that’s what “woke” has become for some people. Whether it makes sense or not, someone will use that word to describe a show they don’t like.

Barry kills people indiscriminately. Any person of any color or nationality. If that's woke then its the good kind of woke.

I wonder if there will be an ending or a cliffhanger like The Nevers or Avenue 5? Generally, when shows end nowadays they do not give you a courtesy of an ending. You think you might get the ending, but then they jerk you around with a last minute twist. If the show has already been filmed, there is still plenty of time to edit the finale before the broadcast. See Life On Mars for example. They refilmed the last five minutes of their finale in a week. Please give us an ending for Barry. Good or bad. Just end it proper.

As much as it sucks to have a show go away after only 4 seasons, it’s also great that it’s going out while it’s still hitting. HBO is usually pretty good about this, but not always.
Shoutout to Henry Winkler.

Good.....the first season was awesome then ended up being a Broadway show after that. Supposed to be about a hit man not a pussy. Boring pile of crap.
