The CW announced today that Walker has been renewed for a fourth season. The news comes just two days before the current third season wraps its 18-episode run. Today's pickup marks the first renewal by The CW since Nexstar Media Group acquired the network.
"Over the past three seasons, Walker has become the top performing series on The CW with a passionate fanbase and a fantastic cast and creative team led by Jared Padalecki, who has now been a leading man on the network for over twenty years," said Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, The CW Network. "As we build a great big new future for The CW, we are thrilled to be staying in business with our partners at CBS Studios and we cannot wait to have Walker back on the schedule."
A reimagining of 1990s drama 'Walker, Texas Ranger,' the show follows the adventures of widowed father of two Cordell Walker, who has returned home to Austin after being undercover for two years. He now turns his attention to reconnecting with his creative son and his rebellious teenage daughter while tackling other family issues with his ADA brother, perceptive mother, and traditional father.
Look for Season 4 of Walker to premiere as part of the 2023-2024 season this fall.

This season I feel like they've completely ran out of ideas for a bunch of characters. Walker's brother and his kids used to actually do interesting things and now they're just there kinda stewing in the background. Then they sidelined Odette Annable's character to have a female reporter as Walker's female counterpart for most of the season without having any interesting resolution there.
I honestly sense a creative void and that the writers are just throwing things at the wall hoping something will stick.
