No Season 4 for the martial arts drama.
May 11, 2023
It is being reported that Kung Fu has been cancelled by The CW after three seasons. The news comes two months after the martial arts drama wrapped its now-final run. The move is not a surprise, as the network is expected to cancel most of its existing scripted series as part of cost-cutting efforts by its new owner, Nexstar.
Adapted from the 1970s drama of the same name, Kung Fu follows a young Chinese-American woman named Nicky, who embarks on a life-altering journey to an isolated monastery in China. But when she returns home to San Francisco, she finds that it has become overrun by crime and corruption, with her own parents at the mercy of a powerful triad. With help from her family and friends, Nicky uses her martial arts training and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice - all while searching for the ruthless assassin who killed her mentor and is now coming after her.

I took a look at the first episode of this and it was really just a complete bastardization of a show I grew up and loved watching. Another show they woke in every possible way and it ruined it.

Never watched this show, so can't comment on its merits, but a couple of posters here made me want to make this point. It's impossible for network TV to compete w/streaming on an even playing field, especially when it comes to Emmys. FCC is going to have to relax some rules on when you can say or show certain things like they do in Europe after a certain hour.

It’s a sad loss. All you have to do is take a look at Nexstar’s Board of Directors. That will tell you all you need to know. ABC, CBS, NBC and , finally, the worst of them…CW have made it very easy to leave these networks behind and never look back. Thank goodness for streaming services like Paramount and Prime. Good bye network tv. Hope you all burn in hell.

Several shows getting "axed". Also, CW is undergoing or has undergone some management changes with Nexstar cutting back on "scripted" CW produced series. This is something other networks have also done over the years (thinking of Cinemax).
We can only hope to see if "Warrior" returns next month on HBOMax and how it'll do. Then again, HBOMax's "The Nevers" was also cut and in mid-season.
I tend to agree with Jasmine's 7:21pm comment and tuned out of Walker after S1, but apparently many folks do like the Walker series. Ryan's 6:25pm is a good thought.
This tv industry, whether broadcast, streaming, or from pilot-to-series-then-renewed/cancelled is just so long and difficult.
Again, good luck to the cast & crew for future endeavors.

So sad. It was a really enjoyable show. Can't believe that Nexstar is really canceling all these scripted shows.

Great show! Great cast! CW should have kept this over Walker.
