No Season 2 for the 'Supernatural' prequel.

It is being reported that The Winchesters has been cancelled by The CW after one season. The news comes two months after the drama wrapped its 13-episode freshman run.
The move is not a surprise, as the network is expected to cancel most of its existing scripted series as part of cost-cutting efforts by its new owner, Nexstar. Word is, though, that the studio behind the show, Warner Bros. Television, is planning to aggressively look to find it a new home. For now, however, its March 7 episode, aptly titled 'Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye,' serves as its series ender.
A prequel to 'Supernatural,' The Winchesters is narrated by Dean Winchester, who tells the epic, untold love story of how his father John met his mother Mary. Back from Vietnam, John has a strange encounter that leads him to trace his father's past. He crosses paths with Mary, a demon hunter who is also looking into the disappearance of her own dad. As they work to uncover hidden truths about their families, John and Mary put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.

I miss the original Supernatural and I did watch this, though it really was not a very good show. The chemistry between the characters/actors wasn't really great either. Acting was very uneven. But I did like many of the story elements of the show and the Supernatural Lore. I enjoyed many of the cameo's as well.
The series was far too woke unfortunately, with being made for modern audiences, it made a lot of things about the 70's off kilter. That made it especially difficult to really get involved with the series as a whole.

Not as bad as the worst SN seasons, but definitely not as good or engaging as the best ones either, with interactions that felt really forced (especially in the first episodes). Overall, just an average show that messes with the continuity, even if it is explained in the last episode (in a bad, bad way).
Of all the spin-offs proposals over the years, it's a shame that this is what came out of it.

If no one watches the CW anymore they will go the way of bud light and that would be best at this point..

I agree. The first season was very tough to watch. But I remember Supernatural took a couple seasons (including a change of network) to really find it's groove so as bad as the first season was I had high hopes for the next season (especially given the reference to Crowley and the story of the Trickster showing up in the past.) I would like to see it given another chance, but definitely need to pay more attention to continuity of story lines as it connects to the original.

I never wanted a series about John and Mary. We all knew their story. This show messed with the continuity of Supernatural. If I had carried on watching , it would have ruined my favourite show. I wish they had made a show around the women on Supernatural, that would have fit in very nicely. As it is the CW is done for. Most of the shows are trash now.

I was a big fan of Supernatural but this show just didn't click. As someone else said it was cheesy and the actors chemistry just wasn't there. I think they would have been better off leaning towards horror than giant bugs.

With rumors of a possible 16th season I look more towards anticipation of seeing 1 more episode of supernatural. Would love to see them get going with that instead.

i watched it and it was not that great at times, but the last episode was worth it and explained everything. it also makes this show good as a one time standalone project. no need for a second season. i do not want a second season, but i don't regret watching the first.
