No Season 3 for the reimagined comedy.
September 15, 2023
It is being reported that ABC has cancelled The Wonder Years after two seasons. The news comes a month after the reimagined coming-of-age comedy wrapped its shortened sophomore run, which at 10 episodes was less than half the length of its first season.
After ranking as one of the network's top comedies of the season in 2021, the half-hour series struggled in Season 2. It is currently ABC's lowest-rated show of the summer despite continued positive reviews from critics and viewers.
Inspired by the 1988 series of the same name, The Wonder Years takes a look back in time at a Black middle-class family in 1960s Montgomery, Alabama, from the point of view of an imaginative 12-year-old named Dean. Narrated by his grown-up self with the wisdom of his adult years, Dean reflects on some of the best years of his life with his family during a turbulent time.

Woke crap
But I guess the behind-the-scenes conflict after the first season caused production problems and a delay in filming new episodes. ABC just lost interest (after all, they have "Abbott Elementary") and shuffled it off to the deadlands of summer.
It wasnt a recasting of an old show. It was a faithful to the original remaking of the original but from a black family's perspective. I guess you wouldnt watch a faithful remake of the original Cosby show casting an all white cast then would you?
@Sandwich
You really shouldnt make assumptions about people like that by calling them racist. Maybe its just that TV and the culture nowadays is so saturated with "woke" propaganda that its easy to assume sometimes about some TV shows that they too might be in that category. I just dont think as many people are actually racist as particular people would like to have us all believe.
Don't get me wrong, there are some televisions shows which are far more propaganda - trying to change the opinions of others - than entertainment. But Wonder Years was absolutely NOT one of those. Anyone calling THIS show "woke" is nothing short of a racist.
Protip: Just cause a show is about black people or has a lot of black people in it doesnt make it "woke". The whole plot was about a black family in the mid-60s.
Also I like Dule Hill since I saw him in Psych. Its good to see him doing a serious role too.
