Word is out that Chapelwaite has been cancelled by MGM+ after one season. Co-creator Jason Filardi took to X with the news, letting fans know that "There will be no Season 2." The horror drama premiered in 2021 and initially received a season two renewal by Epix before the network changed its name to MGM+.
Based on the short story 'Jerusalem's Lot' by Stephen King, the series is set in the 1850s, where Captain Charles Boone decides to relocate his family of three children to his ancestral home in the town of Preacher's Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. Once there, he learns about his ancestors' dark, sordid history and must confront it in order to put a stop to the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations. A young writer finds inspiration with Boone's arrival, and applies to be governess of the infamous Chapelwaite manor in order to write about the family. This leads her to unravel a mystery that has plagued her own family for years.

Was a very good show, had a good ending, would have definitely watched a second season, but it's good where they left it.

That's too bad. I thought the show was quite good. I never knew there was supposed to be a season 2.

Very disappointing. The horror genre has pretty slim pickings, unless you want to watch a bunch of clowns run around some old house whispering "Wait! I just felt a cold breeze!" in Ghost Hunters. Season 1 was very good, and I was anticipating season 2. Kind of a dirty trick to announce it had been renewed, then wait over a year before announcing they changed their minds and decided to cancel it after all. But that seems to be the trend these days... too bad.

I loved Chapelwaite! That being said, the story had a great ending and I felt the story was satisfying with it's conclusion. I would have watched season 2, but I do not think it would have been as good. Probably for the best. Great show!!!
