November 17, 2023
It is being reported that Ride has been cancelled by Hallmark Channel after one season. The news comes six months after the drama wrapped its 10-episode freshman run. The show was one of just three original scripted series on the cable network.
Ride followed a rodeo dynasty family that dates back a generation. After a tragic loss, each family member embarks on an empowering journey of transformation and self-discovery as they to keep their beloved ranch afloat. They also uncover a twisted web of secrets, threatening to tear the family and their small Colorado town apart.

I watched it with my husband. He really liked it; me not so much. Nice enough - but it didn’t grab me!

I found the series ok, at least for me, good enough for a S2. Oh well; it's not like I needed this series. I didn't like "Tuff" playing a right-handed guitar upside down, as apparently he's left handed. The series should have been able to source a left-handed acoustic guitar. The "Valeria" character had interesting potential. Everyone else did a good job at filling in with more drama.
I don't know anything about running Hallmark, however. I must have been the only one to like "When Hope Calls" when that aired and wasn't renewed either.
Overall, "Ride" fit in well with the "Yellowstone" and "Heartland" shows which must have influenced "Ride's" S1, but whatever it was just wasn't enough.

Hallmark actually cancels things? I thought they just let everything run until the actors left. When Calls the Heart is like the show that won't die.
