Starz announced today that Hightown is coming to an end after its upcoming third season. It has been over two years since the the drama wrapped its sophomore run, but the wait for the now-final season won't be long, as a January 26 premiere date has already been set.
The series follows National Marine Fisheries Services Officer Jackie Quiñones, whose carefree, booze-addled life in Cape Cod is upended when she discovers a dead body on the beach during a holiday weekend. This thrusts her into the center of a perilous opioid ring investigation, which she sets out to solve on her own amidst her personal journey to sobriety.
Season 3 finds Jackie off the wagon and off the force, but that doesn't stop her from careening into Cape Cod's dark underbelly to save a missing woman and a murdered sex worker. Meanwhile, her former colleagues Ray Abruzzo and Alan Santille are focused on taking down drug syndicates, which have attracted Shane Frawley, a gangster from Boston looking to cut himself in on the Cape's drug trade. Alliances are made and old loyalties are questioned in this beautiful but corrupt place where nothing is as it seems.

I was not impressed with the series finale. There were too many things still going on. Not enough viewers to do another season?

I'm as anti-woke as they come, and I love this show. The main character is a train wreck, and extremely genuine and authentic. This is a well acted, well written, and gritty show. I genuinely care about the characters. I've seen some woke garbage, and this is definitely not woke garbage.

Watch 2 episodes before commenting. There are many characters besides the main one who is gay. Many people are gay in the real world. This show is layered with great characters. Good solid entertainment. P.S. I am 60 years old and not gay. I have 3 friends/relatives who are. It does not affect my life or a good story. Let us put woke to rest. It is a lazy word. If someone dislikes something, tell us why. Not just "woke". Thanks for reading.

First episode of Hightown... she mentions she's a lesbian no less than 8 times in the first 5 minutes along with the term "gold star".... And NONE of that should have mattered. It was SPECIFICALLY called out to be woke. It was CLEARLY pushing that agenda more than any "mystery" aspect. I'd wager the ENTIRE series has been more about her relationships than anything else.. Don't get me wrong.. I don't really care about her preference.. but to be so obvious and repetitive about it.. yeah.. that was clearly more important to the producers than the "detective" aspect.

I waited two years and now this is the last season??? This better be a great series finale or I’m going to boycott some of Starz shows. They are canceling way too many good shows and keeping trashy shows. Shame on you Starz!

I can tell when people haven't watched a show, because Hightown is about as far from "woke" as a show can get.
The lead character alone is messy af.

Not every show with a non-white lead is "woke".

I hope they give it a proper ending! No cliffhanger like the end of season 2.

Good show. I think it’s brought a fresh take on the opioid crisis and addiction issues. I’m going to miss it but ending at three seasons might be for the best.
