The competition series will return in December.

ABC announced today that The Great American Baking Show has been picked up for a fifth season. And like last year, Season 5 will air as a "Holiday Edition" beginning this December.
On the air since 2015, the competition series has had somewhat of an interesting run. It started out under the name The Great Holiday Baking Show before switching over to The Great American Baking Show for Season 2. Then in Season 3, judge Johnny Iuzzini was accused of multiple instances of sexual harassment, resulting in the network ending all its associations with him and pulling the show from the air after just one episode. The season would not air, though a winner was eventually announced.
The show would not be cancelled, though, and returned last year for Season 4 under the title The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition. With the series pulling in solid numbers for the network, today's pickup does not come as a big surprise.
