No Season 3 for the Gina Rodriguez comedy.
May 10, 2024
It is being reported that Not Dead Yet has been cancelled by ABC after two seasons. The news comes less than two weeks after the sitcom wrapped its sophomore run. The move is not a complete surprise, as the show was the least watched of the network's three comedies this season.
Adapted from the book 'Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up' by Alexandra Potter, the half-hour series stars Gina Rodriguez as Nell Serrano, a newly single and broke journalist who is working to restart the life and career she left behind five years ago. When hired for the only job she can find - writing obituaries - Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

The cast had many favorites from previous hit sitcoms that I used to watch, so I am not happy about this. It was a quirky show that was fun, even though it went off the rails with the original premise. Not much left that I want to record anymore.

I didn’t think I’d like this show (seemed like it was just trying to capitalize on the Ghosts phenomenon), but it turned out to be fresh, sweet and funny. I am disappointed to see it go. But, my goal is to watch less tv, so every time a good show gets canceled, it brings me closer to my goal!

Too bad good show. Not worth starting any new shows cuz they always cancel them after maybe a couple seasons. Probably be replaced with reality or game shows

Too bad. This was a smart show with likeable characters. The central idea of an obituary writer seeing the ghosts of the deceased until the obit was published was different and a good springboard for comedy.
But it was clear this season that when they added Brad Garrett that the show was in trouble and probably beyond saving. He's normally a plus in any series but in this one he just seemed there to add star-power. The series' biggest problem was that it was a bit unfocused with too many story lines to keep track of.

Terrible decision. This was one of the best sitcoms on TV right now with a great cast.

it was easy to see this was a desperate season not going to last as it walked its tall suited body into the news room. Stunt cast this early rarely works. A good show with a premise it wants to keep can do it (Always Sunny) but a show like this that doesn't know what it wants to be about can't. Was this show about a woman adjusting to life? A newspaper work comedy? A reluctant psychic?
First season: A woman trying to get thier life back on track while ghosts interrupt them, and maybe help.
Second season: Remember that guy from everybody loves Raymond? Well his character from single parents, but richer. Also a lady that has a love life. And a newspaper. Also maybe ghosts if we remember. Oh please watch.
Third Season: Did you see season 2? We don't expect a third one.

Really liked this show - didn’t like Brad Garrett’s character at all. When he arrived completely lost the plot of the series. I’ll miss it - sad it’s canceled.

The first season gave this show promise, but the second completely deviated from the plot. The spirits the main character interacted with were shifted to the background and it became more focused on the ”living” cast. Brad Garrett would have been more interesting as a repeat-returning spirit like Martin Mull was in the first season. Sad as this show had potential.

this show was NOT good... but it was better than a lot of other crappy sitcoms.
Ultimately they didn't know what show they were making. While it STARTED being about what the "ghost" brought to Nell's life.. by the end of season 1 the ghosts meant NOTHING. Season two was not the original show at all. You only saw the ghost for maybe 30 seconds each episode just so they could say that was the premise. The idea was, well, passable. but the execution just ended up being uninspired, ordinary, and predicable.
