No Season 3 for the Gina Rodriguez comedy.
May 10, 2024
It is being reported that Not Dead Yet has been cancelled by ABC after two seasons. The news comes less than two weeks after the sitcom wrapped its sophomore run. The move is not a complete surprise, as the show was the least watched of the network's three comedies this season.
Adapted from the book 'Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up' by Alexandra Potter, the half-hour series stars Gina Rodriguez as Nell Serrano, a newly single and broke journalist who is working to restart the life and career she left behind five years ago. When hired for the only job she can find - writing obituaries - Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

This show was different and it could go anywhere every week depending on the next person on the deceased list. It was clever and had a great cast. It didn't look like a very expensive show to produce because it usually focused on only work and home locations. Of course, network shows are not going to have the numbers and ratings that they used to because so many viewers are being diverted to streaming apps which are in resuscitation mode as well. In fact, when I ask most people what they're watching, they rarely mention network shows at all. The big transition plan to streaming is not working as intended and they don't know how to fix it.

This is sad news. I just discovered this show about a month ago and binge watched the first season and the released episodes from Season 2. It was the first on my "watch list" that I would hit when a new episode was available.
I liked the cast, I liked the stories (yes, I even liked season 2). Sadly, "Not Dead Yet" is apparently dead - unless another network decides to not let it be dead? (sorry for the dad jokes there)

The show was ok in season 1 but season 2 it got worst. The acting was weak and the show got corny. Glad it got cancelled.

The first season was good but then they got away from the premise and added Brad Garrett which was its downfall

This is so sad. I loved this show. It did move away from the ghosts but it was a good quirky 30 minute show.

That's a downer bit of news. The only flaw in the show was when they stepped away from the premise. The ghost advisor-pest angle made it a special kind of fun. When they didn't have the ghost in the plot, it was only one more comedy of 30-somethings being wacky.
