Word is out that Amazon Freevee has cancelled Primo after just one season. Creator Shea Serrano took to x.com to share the news, which comes a full year after the comedy released its 8-episode freshman run on the streaming service.
"a short but beautiful run - sadly we're not gonna be making any more episodes of PRIMO," Serrano wrote. "i will always be indebted to everyone who worked on the show to make it so great and i will always be thankful to everyone who watched and championed it — thank you for real — long live PRIMO"
The semi-autobiographical series follows Rafa Gonzales. a 16-year-old being raised by his mother and his five overbearing uncles on the southside of San Antonio. Rafa's life is at an inflection point with three big moments coinciding: he's nearing the end of high school, he just met the girl of his dreams, and he has a real possibility to become the first person in his family to go to college. Rafa, his mom, uncles, and friends all affect each other and help one another grow in unexpected ways, whether they like it or not.
