No Season 3 for the sitcom sequel.
October 3, 2024
Word is out that Netflix has cancelled That '90s Show after two seasons. Star Kurtwood Smith took to Instagram with the news, which comes just over a month after the comedy wrapped its expanded 16-episode sophomore run.
"I know you have been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have tough news... Netflix will not be renewing," wrote Smith in his post. "I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all of the fans everywhere who supported and watched the show. You have come up to me in random parts of the world when I'm traveling and reached out to me through social media and just been so wonderful. I've loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all." Read the full message below.
Acting as a sequel to the hit comedy 'That '70s Show,' the half-hour series is set in 1995, following Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, who decides to visit her grandparents for the summer. During her time there, she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red.

It may pain some ppl to read this but the while franchise lost its luster after Topher Grace exited. I genuinely believe he carried the franchise and it wasn't the same with his very limited showing later on. Sucks that his career didn't take off the way he expected it.

I deserves a proper ending then, it is a good enough show for that!

It wasn't as good as the original of course, but it was good enough to deserve at least a proper send-off. The kids worked well together, and Red and Kitty were awesome as always. This kinda sucks. Hope they reconsider or give it a final episode to properly end it.

I can't believe this. It was a really great show.

@Jon it was one production order of 16 episodes for season 2. For some reason Netflix likes to break things up into multiple seasons unnecessarily based on air date of the 8 episode chunks they released. See Voltron for an example of their absurd idea of what a "Season" consists of.

I am bummed out. This is one of the shows my kids and I could enjoy together.
