It is being reported by Deadline that ABC has cancelled Lucky 13 after just one season. The news comes less than two months after the game show wrapped its 10-episode freshman run.

The move was unexpected, as the show fared reasonably well in its Thursday night time slot. It had the network's most-watched summer series premiere, topping an episode of Big Brother, and its season finale in September ranked #1 in its time slot.

The show's producer, Studio 1, is not giving up on Lucky 13 though, telling Deadline that it is taking steps to restructure its business to unlock and protect the show's intellectual property. What that means for its future on television remains to be seen.

Co-hosted by Shaquille O'Neal and Gina Rodriguez, Lucky 13 is a high-stakes quiz show that challenges contestants with 13 true-or-false trivia questions that test not only what they know, but also their awareness of what they don't know. If they can accurately predict how successfully they've answered the questions, they could take home up to $1 million.
