Dream's journey will come to a close this year.
January 31, 2025
Netflix announced today that The Sandman will be coming to an end after its upcoming second season. The news comes over two years after the fantasy drama was renewed for what will now be its final run.
"The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream's story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season," showrunner Allan Heinberg told Netflix. "We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics' loyal readers as well as fans of our show."
Based on the award-winning DC comic series, the show follows Morpheus, aka Dream, who is a powerful cosmic being who has the ability to control people's dreams. After he is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for decades, Dream escapes and journeys across different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos caused during his absence.
Look for the final season of The Sandman later this year.

It's unfortunate. I remember Sandman #18, "The Dream of the Cats" or something like that. Maybe one of the best single issues of comics I had ever read. That one gave me chills. Extremely talented writer, what a shame.

Reminds me alot of Weldon - wonderful entertainer, creator of some of my favorite television, but an absolute piece of catshit in real life. Neils stuff is very fun to watch, but i agree with Netflix, its just going to be tainted from here on out. Sad, but hopefully the writers do it justice.

Of course. 10 TPBs were released, and the first season focuses on the first 3 ones, but there's only enough material for 2 seasons. And it's not at all because of issues with the author. Riiight…

He was a so called male feminist but he was a horrible abuser of women evidently, forcing one to call him master??!. Which makes it worse. Great actor William.hurt (deceased now)was very open in his brutality , he was tried even , and misogyny and he later reformed but he would never have claimed to be a male feminist. Neil's career is collapsing . Like many he was protected for decades. he is brilliant but now toxic.

The first season was ok. And then they got to that one episode with all the deviant behavior. I suppose unholyweird is required by law in crazyfornia to put that in there.
I'll give season 2 a try.
