No Season 4 for the fantasy drama.
May 23, 2025
It is being reported that Prime Video has cancelled The Wheel of Time after three seasons. The news comes just over a month after the fantasy drama wrapped its now-final 8-episode run.
The series premiered in 2021, garnering a generally positive reception from critics, plus strong viewership that ranked it as one of the streamer's top five debuts of all time. While the show continued to earn high praise in subsequent seasons, its most recent audience numbers weren't large enough to financially justify a fourth season.
Based on Robert Jordan's novel series, The Wheel of Time follows Moiraine, a member of the Aes Sedai, an order of women who can channel the power of magic. Looking to locate the latest reincarnation of the Dragon, the light's champion, she guides a group of young people on a journey around the world, believing one of them could be the powerful individual prophesied to save the world - or destroy it.

People like you consuming "entertainment" without thinking about it, braindead mentality of "don't ask questions, just consume".
It won't be picked up by any platform, I can assure you that. It won't become a hit for anybody if it hasn't already, do you even think before you type? You think that suddenly changing to Netflix, or any other streaming service will make the show be "good"?
You little dweeb
New IP? Put all the modern crap you want in it.
Existing IP? Leave it as it is, the modern audience doesn't exist, the regular people that love something, doesn't want their love to be tainted by panderers to freaks and weirdos.
The Boys? Started Ok, when full propaganda.
LOFTR? Leftist refugee propaganda.
TWOT? Haven't seen it, bout heard it was garbage, compared to the source material.
Reacher? Quite good, although the MC is a douche irl.
The Terminal List? Great plot, to the point, didn't expect a season 2, but it is more than welcome.
Bosch? Was phenomenal, but no one asked for the spin-offs, still, will check them out.
And the list goes on... Amazon has had a lot of hit and miss over the years, but who could be surprised that a series based on 16 books would get canned midway.
Was the show so expensive that it simply wasn't worth a 4th season to wrap it up? I presume that the business model points that it is far more equitable to write off the 'losses' due to viewer rebellion and then push another story quickly and rely on the short-term memory of the audience, desperate to get another fix of sorts. Rinse and repeat.
I believe more and more that no show should be watched at all until there are a minimum of 3 seasons and you can review how poorly/abruptly the show ends to gauge if you really want to invest your life into it. Of course, that likely makes it even worse.. but then again maybe TV is really not as important as they keep trying to tell us it is.
