Netflix wants more of the sci-fi anthology series.

Netflix announced today that Black Mirror has been renewed for an eighth season. The news comes nine months after the critically-acclaimed series returned for Season 7.
"Black Mirror will return, and hopefully it'll be more Black Mirror than ever," creator Charlie Brooker revealed in a recent interview with Netflix's Tudum after the show garnered its first Golden Globe nominations. "That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away," he added.
Originating in the United Kingdom, the sci-fi anthology series premiered in 2011 and aired its first two seasons on Channel 4. Netflix acquired the rights to the show in 2015 and has released five seasons of its own since then, as well as the interactive film 'Bandersnatch.'
Black Mirror airs in standalone episodes, with each featuring a different cast. The show imagines realities in the near future where humanity's greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide. The tales focus on topics ranging from obsession and revenge to fantasy and fear.
