CBS announced today that NCIS: Origins has been picked up for a third season. The news comes midway through the drama's sophomore run, which returns with new episodes on March 3.

A spinoff prequel of 'NCIS,' the series is set in 1991, following Leroy Jethro Gibbs at the beginning of his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office. There he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.
