Netflix announced today that The Night Agent will be coming to an end after its fourth season, which has just started production. The news comes two months after the action thriller was picked up for its now-final run.

"Ever since the initial success of The Night Agent, I've been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland's journey," said creator, executive producer, and showrunner Shawn Ryan. "I'm so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me on The Night Agent and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season to our worldwide legion of fans. We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget."

Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, the series follows low-level FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, who mans an emergency hotline for American spies in the basement of the White House. The phone never rings - but when a call comes in from a terrified civilian, Peter must find a way to protect her while working to uncover a dangerous conspiracy that could lead all the way to the Oval Office.
