Love this show the most unique show on TV with a very talented cast. I now have nothing to watch on TV except two other shows. Hope another network picks it up.

The reason that SMASH was not renewed is that it was a well-produced program with good music that appealed to adults seeking great entertainment and did not reflect the inanity that seems to be the standard these days on TV. Maybe it was way too grown up for the NBC executives.
I sincerely hope that it will be picked up by another network. Its cancellation akin to having Van Gogh's Sunflowers painting taken down in the museum, replaced by cartoons, "because that's what people like." No wonder viewers are leaving commercial TV in droves and finding other ways to get their entertainment.

This show was hurt by its own network -- took too long to come back after season 1, not given a strong lead-in, moved to Saturday. The changes at the beginning of season 2 didn't seem promising -- guest star Jennifer Hudson, whose story arc had little to do with the continuing characters, a new love interest whom fans vociferously disliked -- but it was finally back on track AFTER the move to the Saturday graveyard. If NBC didn't know what to do with it, maybe someone else does. With a loyal fanbase of Broadway fans who have nowhere else to go, a great cast and promising storylines for a season 3, Smash could still be a success on another network that is wiser about scheduling and promotion.

We are very sad to see this show cancelled. With all of the crime, blood and violance on TV today, SMASH was a welcome relief. The music was incredible and so was the story line. I have the CD and DVDs of the show and listen and watch time in time again. NBC it is your loss. I hope that another network sees the value in this remarkable show, with such a great director and producer involved too. What a shame!!!

In the days of DVRs some attention needs to be given to how ratings are done.
In a time when most of the shows on TV are a combination of utter violence, reality junk (people competing for marriage-seriously), shows like Smash are refreshing, entertaining, and reintroduce the arts to a culture starved nation. Canceling it seems not just a tragedy, but a disservice.

I can't believe this show was canceled. It had the best cast, the best writing, the absolute best story. I knew they were trying to kill it when they moved it from Tuesday to Saturday. And what did they put on in its place? Ready For Love. Really. What a stupid Bachelor Wanna Be show that no one watched. When SMASH moved to Saturday, I had to watch it OnDemand. I'm sure the ratings dropped with the new ridiculous time slot. Why do networks continue to keep on the worst crap and cancel every good show?

SMASH is the highlight of our week. We all love the musical numbers. Please bring it back. We have watched every episode on Hulu. It's the best show on TV right now. My teenagers and I look forward to watching it each week...and re-watching it!

THIS IS ONE GREAT show that has not had its proper time yet. I’m 45 and grew up loving musicals of all types and performing in them. OW I have the opportunity to get my sons (12, 9) exposed to a musical – you try getting that age to sit and watch “OKLAHOMA!†or “West Side Storyâ€- they are AWESOME but long at least to that age. They love GLEE and they love SMASH but what’s more important is we can watch it together AND now they want to learn more about other types of music and musicals like “Wicked†& they LOVE RENT.
There has been a long history of shows not “ready to go quietly into the night†– THIS is one to take that chance on! Remember these examples?
Cougar Town, Southland, Friday Night Lights, Damages, JAG, Law and Order Criminal Intent, Project Runway, Scrubs, Medium, Diff'rent Strokes, Fame, Matlock, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Taxi AND MY FAV Hill St. Blues that went on to make Emmy history. Though not picked up by another network – they certainly did give it ONE MORE chance and so should you!
