The troubled musical series will not return.
May 10, 2013
NBC has cancelled Smash after two seasons. The musical drama has had its share of troubles since premiering as a mid-season replacement in February 2012. Shortly after being picked up for a second season, showrunner Theresa Rebeck announced that she would be stepping down at Season 1's end. After ratings for Season 2 plummeted, the network moved Smash to Saturday nights to burn off the remainder of its episodes.
The series finale of Smash will air on May 26, 2013.

It's a shame but once they moved it to Saturday I knew it was over.

This show was a bright spot in an otherwise dull TV landscape. Please rethink this decision to cancel

I loved this show. I can not believe you cancelled it. Please bring it back

Yes please bring it back. Who cares about all those reality shows, we need a good musical and Smash had that and then some. NBC made a big mistake moving it to Saturday and not advertising it.

I cannot believe they're canceling this show yet some other 'low class' shows continue to be
Renewed and broadcasted. I too hope that another network will pick it up. I DVR every episode and love watching every minute of it.

This is a tragedy! I love this show and watched it religiously! If I missed one I could not wait for it to be on demand. Another network needs to pick this show up please!

Guess I'm continuing my bravos for this show. One of the reasons I watched was to see the stunning, beautiful and fantastic actress Megan Hilty. I will hate the fact there will not be an option for me to see her incredible talent week after week. I guess viewers are more interested in the blood and guts of CSI shows or the mundane rants and rumbles of shows like "Housewives" and "Jersey Shores". A pity and a crime. Another network: PLEASE pick up this show!

I don't understand how this show could be cancelled. You don't have to be a Broadway buff to enjoy the story line, nor the music. The cast was phenomenal. Sounds whimpy, but I was literally in tears as I watched the finale. What a send off! PLEASE find a way of bringing this back!!!!!
