A musical drama following the creation of a new Broadway show.
In Smash, a writing duo come up with the idea to base a new stage show on Marilyn Monroe. In competition for the role of the iconic lead are an experienced chorus girl and a promising newcomer.

PLEASE DO NOT GO SMASH!!! It is creative and just needs a chance. It is worth the time, think of the dream team behind it and the AMAZING music! It is worth saving! DO NOT LET IT GO!!!

I have to agree with the other comments I see listed here. NBC has made a foolish mistake in canceling the show. It was the best thing on TV, and they had no idea what to do with a quality show like this, choosing to favor more inane "reality" programming instead. That latest fiasco of switching it all over the schedule and then not even airing it when they said they were going to, couldn't have helped matters at all. (Advertised at 9PM, but actually shown at 8PM?? Really??) And those songs from the show.... I work in a college music department and the students there (many of whom were fans of the show) were asking to perform the "Bombshell" score as part of their repertoire. At least the music will have a life of it's own despite NBC's decisions. This was the ONLY thing that I currently watched on NBC. Now I have no reason to tune in there whatsoever.

I'm so upset with NBC for cancelling SMASH. This was a really unique show, different than all of the crappy reality shows, soap operas, police and dating shows. This was a show that showed people obtaining their dreams while showing us the journey it takes to get there. SMASH is a show that shows Broadway as an obtainable art and is so different from the other "talent" shows on tv. Please bring the show back!
