So sad and disappointed that NBC has cancelled Smash. I can't believe there isn't a market for something other than another police, medical, or paranormal drama. And we certainly don't need another reality show. Really hoping another network picks up this smart and unique program.

The thing I find most amazingly stupid, from people who are paid to think about such things, is this: they had good ratings in year 1 when SMASH aired on Mondays, the only day that really works for theatre people to watch it during original broadcast. Then they moved it to Tuesdays and ratings plummeted. And they never once tried moving it back to Mondays? The Voice, a perfect lead-in, is still on Mondays.
Is the switch to Tuesdays the only reason ratings fell? No, it was definitley a combination of things. But it was arguably one thing that was easy to fix. They had a natural constituency of rabidly devoted viewers. NBC chose to relegate them to DVR & web viewing, and then didn't count those numbers.
I am so glad that creepy pimp-a-millionaire show that the replaced it with bombed. You'd thing somebody would get a clue.

After watching Smash from the first episode I knew it would be a hit. Two weeks ago even after being shifted to Saturday night it had 2.3 million viewers! That should speak volumes. This show emphasized the hard work involved with the theatre. Yes it was a drama but it was different. It wasn't the same old reality T.V star rehab, bacheloretter/bachelor, crime scene who done it, court or hospital drama. TRUE vocal talent by both Megan Hilty and Katharine Mcphee. This show should continue if not on NBC then another station should pick this up.

Sadly, I've come to expect the worst from NBC - they take a wonderful, outside-the-box show like SMASH, move it around on the schedule so it never really has a chance to gain any traction with the audience ... and finally, they dump it in a "death slot" to die and get thrown out with the trash. Sorry, NBC, but I'm not going to watch your network ... starting with the local news all the way through prime time.

I love Smash. I grew up as a theatre geek but gave it up once I got to university, so reliving all of this has been just wonderful through this great show. The music is so fantastic. I can't believe this show is being cancelled. Bad call, NBC.

This too was the ONLY non reality show I watch! I hope you will reconsider otherwise another network could snatch it up! Yes I agree, stop replacing GREAT shows with CRAP!

For all those who, like me, love musicals and don't live in NY, "Smash" was something like having a bit of Broadway at home. It's really a shame that you've chosen to cancel it. We are, as before, in a great disadvantage respecting New Yorkers, and we can't go there every year to watch the shows!!!!!! I'm really, really angry with your decision!!!

I love SMASH. It's my fave TV show. I watch loads of other popular shown and none of them are as good. I think that if anyone likes glee they will love SMASH! :D

So sad to see this show go. Hoping another network will pick it up! It's a great show and deserves another season, at the very least!
