A drama following a rancher tasked with restoring order to 1960's Las Vegas.
Inspired by the true story of former Sheriff Ralph Lamb, Vegas follows a fourth-generation rancher tasked with bringing order to Las Vegas in the 1960s, when the city was emerging a gambling and entertainment mecca.
Ralph Lamb just wants to run his ranch in peace, but Las Vegas is a fast-growing city, swelling with outsiders and corruption which intrude on his simple life. When the mayor comes to Lamb for help, recalling his command as a military police officer during World War II, Lamb takes the job of Sheriff and clashes with Vincent Savino, a ruthless big city gangster with his own agenda for Las Vegas.
Now these two powerful men engage in a ferocious battle for control of the budding desert oasis.

Sure this show was a bit non-Mad Men. That is the networks fault. AMC should pick this up and give it a true Mad Men vibe. Maybe do some research too. (Being from Las Vegas, they really are missing the more interesting history.)

I love Vegas and am very sorry it was cancelled. Great acting, great plot lines, great directing, wonderful genre series. I hope it gets picked up by another source. It is a fine show and deserves another chance.

The mucky mucks strike again. The network jerks stop airing the show and a month later bring it back on a different night. The golden boy was not a good replacement. So now both are canceled and we the public are the ones to suffer. Saw a list of the new replacement shows. Good luck not a single one interests me. So another bad season comming up thanks to the crack smoking mucky mucks I will be watching a different network as this one flushes itself down the toilet.

my husband & I agree with everyone. This show was great, storylines, cast. So disppointed we have to give up great entertainment for more stupid reality shows. hopefully our comments are heard by tv bigwigs.

So broken hearted they are not bringing Vegas back for another season. I loved the show and all the story lines. Just hope they put season one out on DVD!!

To the person who said it was the city of Las Vegas that caused the cancellation. It wasn't filmed in Vegas, it was filmed in Santa Clarita Studios in northern Los Angeles County.
It is a great show that is a good change from the reality shows that seem to have taken control of network television! Maybe another network can pick it up and continue the story, TNT perhaps. They seem to be doing fairly well with Dallas.
