An action thriller following a former intelligence officer drawn into a mysterious conspiracy.
Alex Kane is a former military operative-turned-security expert who is lured into a mysterious, high-stakes "game" that tasks him with stopping large-scale crimes from happening. An organization of wealthy individuals gamble on Kane's ability to get the job done.
With a shadowy pit boss overseeing the operation, can the player take them all down from the inside and get revenge for the death of his wife?

Really entertaining action show. Sure, you have to suspend disbelief, but it's all in fun. I hear that this show is on the chopping block, and I will really miss it. Some of the shows NBC decides to keep instead of this one really baffles me.

The player I love this show it was different you never know what was going to happen I love the thriller of it you happy for the good guy please gave the PLAYER a chance.

I really like this show, bring it back at least through the football season to see how a show about high octane action does without having to be up against Monday night football.

We have two satellite boxes, this was the only show on either Dvr. That I watch. NBC has a tendency to promote cookie cutter shows that reflect certain demographic groups. Please give this show another chance on a different day. I enjoy the four main characters very much. Good show

I am in total shock over this decision! I usually am in half or full agreement when I see a show cancelled... but not this one!

This is a great show with an amazing cast. There is mystery and action and none of that reality show fluff. It's a shame this one didn't make it. I sure hope NBC listens to its viewers and reconsiders dropping this one. REVIVE "THE PLAYER"!!

It's sad but true....I'm getting used to networks cancelling really good shows......here's yet another one!! Networks no longer give shows a true chance....another one bites the dust. Damn!

Cancelling this show shows a total lack of faith in the great viewing public. I can only hope that the forward thinking 'Amazon Prime' or 'NetFlix' has the faith that NBC is short of and picks it up like they did with Longmire and Ripper Street, they appear to recognise a good show when it comes along... SHAME on U NBC
