Dr. Dylan Reinhart is a former CIA operative who now lives a quiet life as an author and university professor teaching psychopathic behavior.
When a serial murderer terrorizes New York City using Dylan's first book as a tutorial, NYPD detective Lizzie Needham reaches out to him for help. The connection to his work is enough to compel Dylan to come out out of retirement to work on the case.
Though Dylan and Lizzie initially butt heads, they soon realize that they make a great team if they learn to trust their instincts.

These are a bit "creepy" characters. I don't think hunky or foxy actors would fit the bill.
BTW, Cumming was a critically-acclaimed,strong flamboyant presence on The Good Wife. Probably not cheap.
Piven in Wisdom of the Crowd, Arquette in CSi Cyber, and now Cummings in Instinct. The producers of these losing shows are simply selecting actors who are the cheapest ones to hire (gawd knows Cummings didn't cost them anything), and giving absolutely NO consideration to whether or not they'd have any kind of general appeal to the storyline or the TV audience.
Piven was creepy, Arquette was creepy, and now creepy Cummings. See a trend, here?
