Miep Gies was a carefree and opinionated young woman at a time when opinions could get you killed ― when Otto Frank asked her to help hide his family from the Nazis during WWII. Without hesitation, Miep agreed, and for the next two years she and her devoted husband, with several other everyday heroes, watched over the Frank, van Pels, and Pfeffer families hiding in the secret annex.
Based on the Inspiring True Story of Miep Gies.
It's well done and recommended although the story, of course, is depressing. It looks like you could stop watching at any point if you wanted to because there is no mystery. I believe I'll stay watching.
The lead actress, Bel Powley, is brilliant in this and a reason to watch. I hadn't seen her before even though she's been active.
