Jackie Howard is a 15-year-old Manhattanite who lost her family in a tragic accident. Leaving her privileged New York life behind, she moves to rural Colorado to be with her guardian - her mother's best friend, who is raising ten kids with her husband.

As she settles into her new countryside home, Jackie is determined to stay focused on her dream of getting into Princeton. She also must deal with her feelings for two very different Walter brothers: the reliable and bookish Alex, and the mysterious and troubled Cole. As Jackie navigates her new life, the feelings and tensions she tries to deny threaten to turn her plans upside down.
