A comedy following a trans woman who moves back to her hometown and reconnects with her estranged dad.
Harry Slate is an old-school Alabama car wash owner whose estranged child he thought was a son returns home to Mobile after 17 years as a proud, trans woman named Desiree. Now roommates, Desiree tries to repair the fraught relationship with her father as they contend with vastly different points of view.
Desiree's return as her authentic self turns the church on its head and puts a strain on her relationship with her closeted best friend. Desiree thought her homecoming would be temporary, but as she plants fresh roots, she realizes that there may be space for her in Mobile after all.
