The crime drama's final season has been extended by six episodes.
January 30, 2011
Last week we reported that The Closer's final season might not end after 15 episodes as originally planned. Now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that TNT has indeed ordered six additional episodes of the series, which would increase its total to 21.
On top of that, it's likely that these added episodes will lay the groundwork for a possible spin-off with the working title of "Major Crimes". The new series would see the departure of 'Closer' star Kyra Sedgwick's character, and be led by a new central as-yet-unnamed protagonist.
As it stands now, the first 10 episodes of The Closer's final season will air this coming summer, with five more planned to air in the winter. The newly ordered set of six episodes won't hit the airwaves until 2012.

I like this show to the point that the reruns are still enjoyable. I hope there is a spin-off because all the characters make a good show. I even like Capt Raider.

Love the show but they keep running re-runs and then changed the day of the week it is shown. How crazy is that?. Why do you list the characters first name when most go by their last (i.e. Provenza and Flynn, and Gabriel. Buzz, Brenda and Fritz are the few that go by their first name?.
I absolutely love this program and would like to see it continue in its present form for a long time. Kyra is an excellent actress and the show is delightful because of her. If she leaves, it would never be the same.

May I suggest using one of the guys instead. You can never replace Kyra. wonderfully written and the best acting ever.
