October 13, 2014
FOX announced today that it has topped up the first season of Gotham to a full 22 episodes. The network has ordered six new episodes on top of the original issue of 16 after a strong start for the series over its first three weeks.
Gotham is one of this fall's top new dramas, so far performing strongly in its Monday night time slot. The series premiere was also FOX's top fall drama debut in 14 years when factoring in Live + 7 ratings.

This is great news. I really like this series. I'm not a DC Comics fan but I do like what they are doing with this back story. The visuals are spectacular. Developing the Penguin is fantastic, And the actor is superb in the role. The whole Bruce Wayne as a boy is kind of boring so I hope that will take off in a better direction. I'm sticking with it.

Standard cop show fare. Introduces nothing really new or interesting.

I'm so happy! Finally had time to watch the premiere tonight. Excellent work - strong writing, excellent acting, fairly faithful to the canon, wonderful imagery, lighting, careful intermingling of period elements across multiple decades - absolutely love it - and shockingly, by the second episode, I didn't even miss Batman!!!

It's ok but not really that impressed.

So far.. it's decent. Hopefully it doesn't devolve into typical network junk.

This is a good sign because it indicates that the show will be renewed but it's surprising and im not sure how this'll be for the story structure. One of the guys working for FOX explained that they were doing 16 episodes because that's what worked the best for the length of their story arc in season 1. Will these extra 6 episodes lead to storylines dragging on or going nowhere? I hope not.
