The show will air an abbreviated 13-episode season.

It is being reported that the CW will not be ordering any additional episodes of Life Unexpected this season. Not a good sign for the struggling show, whose second season will now comprise of 13 episodes in total. This news isn't completely unexpected, as the show is the only CW series that did not receive a back order from the network when it recently announced pickups for Nikita, Hellcats, and One Tree Hill.
The critically praised show has been the lowest-rated series on the network this season, which had led to early speculation that it was first in line to be canceled. While no official announcement has been made, a third season of Life Unexpected is a long shot at this point. The show's finale in January will likely mark the end of the series. However we likely won't know for sure until May, when the network announces its Fall 2011 schedule.
