It was announced today that the previously-cancelled Ripper Street has been revived and will return for a third season. The British drama originally got the axe late last year when BBC One decided not to continue on with the series. However today's news confirms that a new deal was signed with online giant Amazon, which has acquired UK subscription streaming rights.
U.S. audiences will be pleased to learn that BBC America is on-board to co-produce the show and will continue to air new episodes of Ripper Street's third season. No return date has been set for the drama, but production on Season 3 will begin this May.

I love Ripper, Copper, so much better than some of the sitcoms that are so damn silly on regular TV channels! Bring Copper back, now that Ripper is returning.

Ripper Street and Copper are both great shows. If they were on any other network they would be big hits. I just don't think enough people watch BBC America. Please bring both shows back on regular t.v.

I watch but the dialog can be difficult to understand because of the accents. If they would slow it down a little that would be helpful.

Super happy to hear about this. I couldn't believe they cancelled both Copper and this show. I echo the other comments: Bring back Copper! I love both, butit is the better of the two.

Yeah, if I had to choose I would have kept Copper instead. Still waiting for Whitechapel also.
